River Heights Neighbourhood Issues

Blog by Greg Hamilton, REALTOR® | February 17th, 2010

There are a lot of new developments going on in River Heights. New shops and restaurants along Academy and Corydon and new housing projects on the old rail lines may make some residents nervous about the changes and others excited about the new amenities and housing choices. John Orlikow, Winnipeg City Councillor, is planning a community meeting to talk about one of the lastest plans for the area. This is a proactive plan to help create a vision for the neighbourhood, specifically the future of Academy Road.

  • The Academy Road Vision Consultation is scheduled for Fed 20th (9:30am-noon) and Feb 23rd (6:30-9:30pm). For information and to register for this meeting contact Matthew Fitzgerald at 453-2301 or email at mfitzgerald@dillon.ca

Other information for the River Heights area:

  • For information on proposed bike routes in the neighbourhood (along Fleet, Warsaw, Nassau, Grosvenor and Harrow) available at the City of Winnipeg website.

  • The River Heights, Sir John Franklin and Crescentwood Community Centres have had consultations with the community to see how partnerships between the community centres can benefit everyone. More information on this is available at the River Heights Community Centre or visit them on line.
