Redevelopment plans for one of the oldest estates in the Osborne Village area (229 Roslyn Road) will be presented to the public at an open house on February 20th,2014. 'Kilnorie', the historic Nanton Estate at 229 Roslyn Road was built in 1900. Banker Augustus Nanton passed away in 1925 and Lady Nanton remained in the mansion to 1934 when the cost of maintenance became too great and the mansion was removed in 1935. All that remains of this historic site are the impressive entry gates, gatehouse and stable (which was converted to a dwelling).
There is a great article by the Uniter and a summary of the site by the City of Winnipeg, Historical Building Committee. The Manitoba Historical Society also has some interesting history on the site.
The Open House is Feb 20th, 2014 at the Parish Church of St. Luke.
130 Nassau Street N.
